SolarCare

SolarCare focuses on strengthening healthcare systems by equipping health facilities with solar power systems for sustainable and reliable energy, delivering essential medical and ICT equipment, and enhancing service delivery capacity in rural areas in Kenya. It also includes a community engagement component, which involves sensitization campaigns on health and well-being and specialized training on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) for women and pupils in the communities. These trainings also aim at creating demand for available health services and promoting health-seeking behavior.

Through our collaboration with EmpowerNet Org we aim to create long-term, community-driven improvements in healthcare access, environmental sustainability, and the overall well-being of marginalized populations, especially women and young mothers.

How it works

Solar Systems Medical Stations

There are many Medical Stations in rural Kenya without electricity supply.

By purchasing and Installing Solar Systems, SolarCare provides a sustainable solution for Doctors and Patients.

Education and Prevention

Through Health Education in the Communities we complement the improved equipment installed in the health stations by supporting local women groups, schools and mobile medical teams, while promoting the upgraded centers and their expanded medical services.

Purchase of (Medical) Equipment

As the facilities previously lacked reliable power sources, some of the equipment in use was battery-operated. However, this has proven increasingly impractical due to the high cost of battery replacement. Along with the connection to the power grid, new medical devices are being acquired to ensure more efficient and sustainable healthcare services.

Powering Health

Reliable Power for Healthcare Delivery

We install solar energy systems at rural health centers to ensure 24/7 electricity for essential services—especially maternal care, immunizations, and emergency treatment.

    • 4 solar panels, 2 inverters, and 2 storage systems per facility

    • Continuous lighting enables safe nighttime deliveries

    • Power for refrigerators to store vaccines and TB samples

Want to support us?

Can you imagine proper healthcare without electricity? Neither can we and the local doctors in Matsangoni. Together with them and our partner organizations on site we would like to change that. By providing the means and tools we are supporting them in making a huge difference for their local community.
